Just finished ep. 18 with dir. Matt Shakman,tough shoot,shot really tricky car traveling yesterday with Hugh,and...

.. I guess you'll have to wait and see! Shooting car interiors in LA is a nightmare of harsh changing light, sun reflections on windshields-

Matt, our director, is a sweetheart... very talented, super nice... and rigging for car shooting is enough to drive any director crazy!

We shot 4 shots simultaneously using 5D's... couldn't have been done with conventional cameras.. just not enough room to cram them in...

so we shot 3 scenes all from one side then flopped everything over to get the reverses... 5D's are so perfect for this kind of application!

In the meantime we have been doing post on ep.14... all shot on the Arri Alexa... it takes a while to figure the color timing...

So we don't change the look of the show... as we... like every other show, is coming under pressure to go 'digital'..

we are one of the last shows still shooting 35mm film, (Kodak)... and to be honest it's hard to beat...

even though we now use Canon 5Ds for a lot of sequences where we can take advantage of the great shallow depth of field, the size factor etc

One issue is that the developments and advances are coming so thick and fast that by the time you settle on a system you think is great..

.. Je pense que vous devrez attendre et voir ! Tourner une scène de voiture à Los Angeles est un cauchemar avec la lumière changeante, les reflets du soleil sur les pare-brise-

Matt, notre directeur, est un amour ... très talentueux, super sympa ... et monter le tournage dans une voiture suffirait à rendre dingue un réalisateur !

Nous avons tourné simultanément 4 plans en utilisant des caméras 5D ... ça n'aurait pas pu être fait avec des caméras classiques .. juste pas de pièces assez grandes pour les entasser ..

alors nous avons tourné les 3 scènes d'un côté puis tout inverser pour les autres plans ... les caméras 5D sont parfaites pour ce genre d'utilisation !

En attendant, nous avons publié sur l'épisode 14 ... tous tournées avec une Arri Alexa ... il faut un certain temps pour comprendre l'étalonneur de couleur ...

Nous n'avons donc pas modifié l'apparence de la série ... vu que ... comme tout autre spectacle, on subit des pressions pour se tourner vers le "numérique" ..

Nous sommes l'une des dernières séries à tourner avec des films 35 mm, (Kodak) ... et pour être honnête, c'est difficile de trouver mieux ...

même si nous utilisons maintenant une Canon 5D pour un grand nombre de scènes où l'on peut profiter de la grande profondeur de champ, le facteur taille, etc

Un problème est que les développements et les avancées vont devenir si grands et si rapides qu'au final vous vous fixez sur un système que vous pensez génial ..

Not sure season 8 will be the last season; it changes all the time like the wind, and nothing is set in stone till it's officially announced
But then I'm certainly not the first person to know! I think our writers are hard at it by now... readying for the next season...
So stand by for another great season of exceptionally talented work, not only from them but the great team of gifted directors we have!!!
Keeping myself more busy than ever during the hiatus... I think we will start prep sometime mid to late July... till then...
